:Werewolves: - Primary Definition:

A werewolf, also known as a lycanthrope (from the Greek λυκάνθρωπος: λύκος, lukos, "wolf", and άνθρωπος, anthrōpos, man), is a mythological or folkloric human with the ability to shapeshift into a wolf or an anthropomorphic wolf-like creature, either purposely, by being bitten or scratched by another werewolf, or after being placed under a curse. This transformation is often associated with the appearance of the full moon, as popularly noted by the medieval chronicler Gervase of Tilbury, and perhaps in earlier times among the ancient Greeks through the writings of Petronius. Werewolves are often attributed super-human strength and senses, far beyond those of both wolves or men.

Werewolves seem to undergo a full genetic transformation with the exception of some of their thoughts, memories, and intelligence of their human form.  It is as if they carry 2 forms of DNA, the wolf form is more dormant and controllable until the full lunar and then it becomes the more dominant genetic code and transformation begins.  Some have been born with this affliction, others have contracted it.

Wolves are not immortal and do not variate much different in age from a human as they are human, with a condition. Depending upon how their body handles the curse they could live much shorter lives, or a little longer.  Werewolves can regrow limbs or removed parts of their body with the exception of the vital organs.  Removing something vital and they will die just like a human.  Although some werewolves have grown strong enough to control their transformation, they cannot willfully grow back human limbs so it isn't until the full moon when their full genetic change takes over can they grow back a body part.  A wolf can change many times over the full moon but if a body part is removed during the fluctuation of changes that body part is still weak and sore. Whether this is subconscious and in the mind of the wolf or not it is unknown as they went through an entire genetic change during their transformation and should not feel the pain of the other body, theoretically of course.  But the pain is very real for them, whether fathomed or not.  For example, if a werewolf lost their eyes, once, fully transformed and they regrow, their vision may be quite blurry and sensitive to light for an undetermined amount of time.

Implants or transplants are seemingly impossible with werewolves, they heal very quickly and if you are able to get the body to accept a transplant or implant in the short time frame of the healing process, upon transformation the implant/body part would just be pushed out of the body.  Temporary transplants are theoretically possible, as say a pace maker, but upon transformation the risks are too high, as the pace maker may puncture the new developed heart upon transformation.  There are also risks of organ and implant rejection as the new form of the wolf has not received the rejection medications his previous form has.
-(This statement applies limits to the werewolf, but also opens the door for more drama, more in depth stories, and more dialogue to the issue at hand)

As for the loss of limbs, for instance a leg, yes the "stump" may heal over quickly and a werewolf recovers quickly and grows the limb back upon full moon transformation.  A prosthetic takes more than just a few weeks of rehabilitation to adapt to so it is in fact a waste of time, and not applicable.  If the wolf is well enough to venture out it is usually in a wheelchair or on crutches.
-(This allows the choice of a longer story or shorter depending on your chosen body part to lose)

**Note: As per Toxian City lore, all wolves MUST change during the full moon events. No Exceptions.**
